    • They’ve finally made it this far on their migration route. Sometimes they come through in bunches, sometimes just a few. I guess it just depends on where you happen to be and where the winds carry them! There were quite a few on the day I took the picture, but I haven’t seen any since.

  1. No monarchs in my gardens and I guess they’ve passed through. I’m just guessing that there’s so much for them to nectar and lay eggs on in the Hill Country, that they don’t need the puny Austin gardens to help them out. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for. πŸ™‚ Thanks, thanks, thanks for your lovely photo!

  2. I haven’t seen Monarchs in my yard, yet. But I came prepared. I got butterfly weed this year. Cross your finger, we will get some Monarch caterpillars this summer. Last year I had Black Swallowtail caterpillars. Half of them were stolen by Mr. Cardinal. What a booger?! I caught and yelled at him, but he didn’t care. He still kept ‘stealing’ them for his offspring. Nature at its finest. πŸ˜€
