Black And Yellow Garden Spider
Argiope aurantia
This beautiful Black and Yellow Garden Spider spun its even more beautiful web between some flower stems in my garden. I stumbled upon it while doing some much-needed pulling of weeds this morning!

These are gorgeous. I love these spiders and was fascinated to learn they re-weave that center part of their web each day (called “stabilimentum” – great word, right?).

Every day? That’s amazing. The webs are really works of art. I’ll have to wander outside later to see if it’s still there. And a new word of the day! Doubt if I remember it for long, though.:)

It is quite extraordinary. It’s hard to imagine a “bug” doing something like this, isn’t it? I wouldn’t know where to begin!
